Advancing Education for Multilingual Learners
As a thought partner, I serve to support State Departments of Education, Regional Service Centers, Teacher Preparation Programs, School Districts and PK-12 Schools' professional learning initiatives that improve outcomes for multilingual learners. I have over 20 years experience developing and delivering customized professional learning at the national, state and local levels both online and in person. I incorporate data-based decision making by thoughtfully examining a portfolio of data sources to include: Standardized Assessments (e.g, WIDA, NYSESLAT, ELPA, STARR, etc.), Progress Monitoring tools, Observation, Interview, and Student Work Samples. I incorporate key concepts from research and pedagogy such as: Sociocultural Theory, Functional Linguistics, Translanguaging, Culturally & Linguistically Responsive and Sustaining Practices, and WIDA Tools & Resources.
